TRIMETRIK Ltd.'s market-oriented research and development of the prototypes and a unique undercut geometry manufacturing technology of a new electropneumatic routing valve family for the international pneumatic industry

ID: GINOP-2.1.7-15-2016-01693

Beneficiary: Trimetrik Plastics, Engineering and Services Ltd.
With the support of the European Union, TRIMETRIK Ltd. started the implementation of the research and development project GINOP-2.1.7-15-2016-01693 on November 1, 2016. The title of the Project: “TRIMETRIK Ltd.’s market-oriented research and development of the prototypes and a unique undercut geometry manufacturing technology of a new electropneumatic routing valve family for the international pneumatic industry”.

With the support of Széchenyi 2020 European Union – European Regional – Development Fund TRIMETRIK Ltd.  received a non-refundable grant of 129.98 million HUF in the scope of the project “TRIMETRIK Ltd.’s market-oriented research and development of the prototypes and a unique undercut geometry manufacturing technology of a new electropneumatic routing valve family for the international pneumatic industry”.

The total cost of the tender is HUF 216.62 million, which will be used to develop the prototypes of a new electropneumatic routing valve family using unique manufacturing technology which applies undercut geometry.

Trimetrik Ltd. has recently become a supplier to Knorr-Bremse, Aventics (Bosch Rexroth), Festo, Magnetec, Bourns corporations and their subsidiaries in different countries. In these agreements, Trimetrik Ltd.’s R&D capabilities and achievements have been highly recognized. Manufacturers typically call for tenders and select suppliers and component developers for serial production starting in 2017-2018-2019. In order to meet the needs of our multinational customers, this tender aims to develop a new family of three electro-pneumatic routing valves for industrial pneumatic applications, consisting of a valve body and several plastic components (covers, pistons).

In order to manufacture the prototypes of the product, we have also developed a unique manufacturing technology in the field of injection molding, using the so-called undercut geometry. In this tender, we are creating a unique manufacturing technology that can use the so-called undercut geometry to create the desired undercut cavity geometry integrated into the tool during machining and production, so that the product can be produced in one step without post-machining, and the production costs can be reduced by even 50%. Additionally, the injection molding machine and peripheral equipment purchased in the project can reduce the production preparation time by 10-20%.

Finally, we examine which kinds of plastic raw materials can be used for the new production technology. Based on our raw material researches and our measurement examinations, our aim is to expand our knowledge of material properties during the sizing phase of the product design and development tasks by developing elastic deformation limits along the given undercut geometry. Through the manufacturing technology, it is possible to influence the above process by moving the mold elements out of the undercut in the appropriate solidification state after the injection molding phase. The material and process variables indicating the results of the impact assessments mean the basis of our research database.

We thank the support of the Hungarian State and the European Union.
